This is why I say that a person should go with how they feel on the inside regarding how they view themselves. Society has set up racial and ethnic classifications but sometimes they leave out other people. The way these people grow up and the experiences they go through does not make them feel comfortable being a part of one monoracial group.
A person can claim black sometimes, and claim to be biracial or multigenerational mix (MGM) in other situations. You can participate in the causes of black, white, Latino, etc that you are mixed with and still not claim to be black, white, Latino, etc as your primary identify all the time. You just claim a monoracial identity in certain situations.
Whites in general go by physical appearance if you look white -- then you are in general OK with them. The biracial who are accomplished like Tiger Woods, Halle Berry, and Lenny Kravitz are claimed by blacks as members of the black American endogamous group because all three of these celebrities show visible signs of black ancestry.
Wentworth Miller, Vin Diesel, and Mariah Carey are all biracial but all three look white so blacks leave them alone and don’t force them to self identify as African Americans. Whites accept all three of these biracials but they do not accept Tiger, Lenny, and Halle as members of the white race because their skin complexion of their phenotypes look more black. The racial discrimination that Obama goes through is the result also of his phenotype looking more black in the eyes of whites and blacks.

I do agree also that genes from all the ethnic groups your family is mixed with keep showing up from time to time in the family line. In life a person has to find his or her won way and roll with it regardless of what others are saying.

One more thing. Have you ever noticed that the "bi-racial" individuals (especially the accomplished ones) that try to distance themselves from their African ancestry, Black folks will turn around and try to rope them back into the group. While the ones that are perceived as "bi-racial," their treatment is just the opposite - when those individuals attempt to claim, embrace, affirm and amplify their African-American-ness, we criticize, fractionalize and try to push them out of the group. And some white folks treat us all as "niggers" whether we claim bi, tri, African-American or African - it makes no difference to them (taxi anyone?).

Has Obama's accomplishments AND "bi-racialness" made a difference in the minds of a certain number of whites? I think not. But in the minds of some other whites - maybe - we will see on November 4th. So we as a people don't need to be wasting our time and debasing the genetic nature of our community by making an issue of such quibbles. It is what it is.

Strange how the ones that don't want the love get the love. And the ones that give the love can't get any. We are some weird folks.

Do we Black folks have a racial blind spot in this country? There is not one Black person in this country that is not bi or tri-racial. As an educated speculation, I would say that at least one-third of the second generation (our grandparents) of African-Americans born on American soil were the exact same racial make-up as Obama. The one-drop rule prevails in this country - he is one of us in every respect!

It is only generationally that we can call some Black folks "early mixes" (maybe 87% of us) and some folks "late mixes" (Obama and the other 13%). Most of this mixing was done by force (via slave traders, owners and Jim Crow privilege) and some was consensual (resulting in: Obama, Tiger Woods and Halle Berry for example).

Then you have the other phenomenon of sexual intermixing over time within the group designated as "Black." Resulting in white, various African tribal, Native American and Asian racial elements manifesting in different degrees in different families. So with all that folding-in and re-mixing of all these elements, we have become in some senses "a new people." You have individual African-Americans walking around with anywhere from 10% to 90% African genetic make-ups without their parents ever getting with a white person.

You could take a random sample of 50 Black people whose families have not been with any whites for 5 generations back, and look at the various features, hair textures, eye colors, skin tones and undertones, etc. It is the fact of this racial mixing and re-mixing that makes the main distinction between Africans and African-Americans no matter how or when the mixing occured. When you check that - what do people mean when they say "he's not Black enough?"

Obama is also Black culturally. He proudly married a Black woman (NOT WHITE!) - didn't he? Went to a Black church. Did his community organizing in the Black community. He chose to be fully one of us instead of coming out of a white-folk pleasing "bi-racial" bag. What about his children - are they Black enough? We need to crack open some history books. And if his racial make-up is a point of criticism with some Black folks, those same people should come with suggestions as to how he should fix it.

We love to give white folks stuff to laugh about.

Joseph,

It is so refreshing to read your comments and responses. You just "break it down" to facts only.

Example:

Commenter: “I’m a black woman, and if I have a child with a white man, the child will still be black.”

Joseph: No, you will be black, your child will be mulatto, and the child’s father will be white.

Just the facts.
Thanks, Joseph!

Cultural experiences are apart of our reality, and many mixed race people live a cultural experience that includes the cultures they are mixed with. Example a light skin black (MGM) lives the life of a black person and white person at the same time. They are seen as black by whites and are seen as having characteristics of white people by blacks so this shows that they live the life of a white man and black person at the same time too some degree. These experiences make one see life, other people, and ethnic groups with a more open mind (for most mixed race people at least not all though).

"What happened to the days of black folks just being black?"

There was a time when blacks did not like the term "black" being used with regard to themselves. I guess it's like mulattoes not having the term "yellow" used among themselves.

"I don’t identify as being biracial"

That's fine, I know fat people who do not identify as being fat either.

"So, like you said, you can be a black person with a white parent."

That's as stupid as one saying you can be a white person with a black parent.

"I’m a black woman, and if I have a child with a white man, the child will still be black."

No, you will be black, your child will be mulatto and the child's father will be white.

"If they just defined what it means culturally to be biracial than maybe people will understand."

It is not a cultural identity, though the mulatto elite families in America have had a history of being community leaders and reformers. Whites have various cultures, blacks do, and mulattoes too.

"I identify as latino with a white parent."

Whites, blacks, and mulattoes identify as latino, just as blacks, whites, and mulattoes identify as Americans.

"To equate a Creole with a person who resulted from the pairing of a black person and a white person is a gross oversimplication and straight-up denial of a rich, varied slice of history."

True that, true that.

"We just have a different experience."

We all do. I have a different experience from my very brothers.

That is so true Naysue, people often seek out the worst they can find at times about a group because well that is what is more popular for that group meaning being known for negativity.

But if you seek successful people from black America you will find them. Seek and you shall find, you find the elements that you sought out.

Interesting. It is rare that you even hear about successful blacks in leadership roles, but as a former subscriber to Emerge magazine, I am certain that they exist. While turning the pages of this magazine, I was often quite surprised. Very inspiring. But of course, if white America let the secret out of the bag more often, black folks might be inspired to be something more than musicians and athletes.

Good point. In fact, since so many people in our community talk about "moral values," trust is a moral value that can have concrete and practical outcomes. It is one of the main values that other communities cultivate and in doing so enables them to leap ahead economically and otherwise of other communities. If Black churches want to do something constructive, teaching the practical good of trust is a good place to start.

Buddha said: The jewel in the Lotus.

Chance: This statement by Buddha is symbolic the Jewel represents God and the Lotus represents the Heart. So yes Buddha did believe in God but Buddha taught his teachings from the esoteric interpretation which the average person would not understand unless they study it or are taught by someone who understands the esoteric traditions.

As for Karma even Jesus said that ye sow ye shall reap meaning plant good you will receive good and plant bad you will receive bad in return.

I feel also, that in order for these things to happen more and more blacks need to start trusting each other. Blacks fear trusting each other because too many blacks are treacherous. This causes a group to not cooperate with each other. With out the collective trust they fear each other, Chaos, and disharmony reigns.

Chance,

We as a people are living in a post-Jim Crow, post-lynching, post-you can't go to the public library time.

We spend waaay too much energy on what White people are thinking about us, their media biases, their itches, their twitches, etc.

Where should our heads be?

1. Education and high literacy. When slaves used to learn how to read under cover? And it was at one time against the law to teach even freed Black people how to read - come on! There is no excuse for Black people to have low literacy or marginal comprehension of the written word. This betrays our ignorance of history and a lack of appreciation for what our grandparents went through to get us here. In this area we have gone backward.

We need to do the hard work of developing a thick appreciation for education and scholarship in our communities. Yes - we do need more money expended for better facilities, equipment, supplies and teacher compensation. But if an education culture is not developed and reinforced in our communities, it will not matter how much money is being spent - the children will still not learn because it is not a community priority.

2. Black business. This is an area where we as an ethnic group should be at the top in this country for a whole lot of reasons.” Why would you want to work for the grandchildren of the people that brought our ancestors over here as slaves anyway? Our markets, because we are not "handling our business" are making other groups RICH, and our so-called leaders keep leading us to beg for a "job" instead of leading us to owning our own markets. To drive this home, check out Aron Ravens Black Hair Documentary on You Tube - it clearly shows how we are not "handling our business."

3. Development and support of our own media. I could care less what the "mainstream" media is saying. We don't control that - nor would I want to. I personally support Black media. Other media - when supported counters any mess that comes from the "mainstream." Instead of doing the harder work of developing our own media, we are marching and boycotting. I think we can do better than this. I mean developing intelligent media. When we do have media, it often strays from the core message and turns into so many promotion rags for Christianity. Media does not start big - like what you are doing. HEY - Anybody with something to say and access to a copy machine, its that basic. If you got something to say, and enough people read it -THATS THE MEDIA.

4. Black on Black crime. Our community should develop ZERO tolerance of this. If we don't take care of and protect each other - who will?

5. Development of critical thinking skills and stepping away from emotionalism. This is why Christian preachers are looked upon as the leaders in our communities, rather than the businesspeople, scholars and professionals like it is in other communities. Whites look at their business and knowledge infrastructure as their community base. Not clergy, who will tell you to "lay your troubles on Jesus" instead of "wipe your tears and get back to work."

Talking about race can be productive. But many areas of our black lives that are negatively impacted heavily by race can be changed for the better if we as a people stated working on developing our own potentials and standing up. We are full human beings, we need to start behaving like we are.

White people (The Wall Street Journal) say that $800 Billion dollars flow through our Black hands every year. Why are we still looking for a job?

Chance,

I have ZERO tolerance for Black on Black crime. Culture, poverty and all the other excuses have nothing to do with it. I grew up in the same conditions, along with other Black people that don't commit crimes. I think we have too much tolerance for this in our communities - and it is profoundly hurting us as a people.

When you have a situation where a Black child (another 8 year old recently got shot in Chicago while playing on her front stoop) can be physically safer around White people than our own folks - it is truly time to stop blaming "racism" and pulling out other tired excuses for this and look in the mirror!

I agree that mulattoes should continue to help black causes because we are affected by them. We can all work together to fight against social injustices. A mulatto who is biracial, SGM (second generational mix meaning one biracial parent and one monoracial parent o two biracial parents), or MGM can claim mixed race sometimes and claim African American at other times since they are mixed. Even you can do this Denise since you are mixed race in ancestry.

We as mixed race people can go among family on the weekends and visit. One can self identify as mixed race at times and still visit family. Your self identification has no major effect on your family because it is only apart of your daily life.

I agree that mulattoes should still help and participate in fighting against social injustices and racism which is a plague.

Well it is true that black men do go after white women and so do many mulatto men. But remember the mulatto men and women don’t have a culture of their own that is seen as separate from black culture. Therefore, they behave and react similar to how blacks do regarding social behaviors like preferring white women etc.

Most mulattas which also includes light skin black women date and marry darker men because they don’t have a separate culture where mulatto men and women can get together easily. A culture is made up of language, food, religion, politics, economics, written and unwritten social behaviors (acceptable and non acceptable), music, entertainment, relationships, literature, philosophy about life and other subjects, etc if mulattoes had this like Latinos have then they would marry and date each other.

Because they would see each other more often living in similar neighborhoods, cities, towns, actors, actresses, athletes, etc. Mulattoes need a culture that is seen as separate from whites and blacks, but we can still participate in black and white culture.

When you have a culture it givers the men and women in your ethnicity a chance to shine and show what they can do culturally. The Creole before the ODR use to have a strong culture, and the married among themselves. I am open to marry any woman regardless of her racial background or phenotype.

I feel that yes we become curious about men and women from other ethnic and racial groups who look different from us, and this attracts us to them. At the same time I do agree that the media, television, magazines, videos, and certain people in society have influenced people view certain women and men as a standard of beauty over others.

Denise you can cook that is a plus WOW!

Yes Mullatto is an identity, but still a mixture of Black and White. I am afraid that many Mullatos will abandon their multi-racial roots and forget about the fact that they will face the same racial issues as blacks- sad but true. Racism is like a weed that keeps growing despite the amount of time you mow the lawn. I encourage all mullatos to continue to fight against racial inequality. If Mullatos such as: W.EB Debois, Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Fredrick Douglass, Barack Obama and others abandoned the fight for racial equality for people of color in favor for a fight for only the mullatos, we would still have voting tests, jim crow laws, and lynchings.
There have been many attempts to seperate Mullattos from Blacks: The Brown Paper bag test, The Blue Vein Society, the comb test-the list goes on and on. Whites already have more freedom and opportunity in this world. Mulattos can still embrace being Mullato, but still help the black clause, because the Mulatto will benefit from the Black cause.

I disagree that many white women are going a after black men; black men go after the white women because most of them feel that a white woman is exotic, because she is forbidden fruit. Also many successful black men consider white women as trophies. Also, most Mullato men prefer white women over mullato women. Many women of African lineage are single. I do not have a problem with interracial dating, but it seems that Black and mullato men set such high standards for black and mullato women, but when most of them get a white woman she is... well you know not a Pamela Anderson. I am a single mixed race woman of African lineage I am Christian, College Educated, Beautiful, cultural, can cook, but single.

@ Denise,

I agree with you totally. I am also beginning to see certain biracials who are born with caramel brown skin or darker skin being depressed and negative towards people because their skin is not of a yellow brown, yellow, tannish, beige, or whitish.

I was just playing around with Keita’s comment when he said they want to look like you Chance. It is technically a compliment when people admire a certain look about a group of people. At the same time it is also a sad and painful to watch shame. People feel devalued, this kills there sense of self worth.

They is actually a type of murderer. After death there will be karma to pay, and the offenders may pay some of it in this life.
This is very sad.

Someone bleaching their skin out of self-hate is not an honor- it is a tragedy. Keita how could you ever in hell, think that it is an honor for people to want to destroy nature to look like someone else. The Klan are honored when they see black on black crime, so is that justifiable.

Chance,

2008 will make 32 years practicing the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin. Was born into the Nation of Islam and spent my mid-teens exploring Christianity. It was a serious and thorough reading of the Quran, the Hadith and the Bible (without interference from clergy) that made me realize - "something is wrong here." I became an unapologetic atheist after my fourth complete reading of the Bible. When I encountered Buddhism in my late teens, I fell in love.

Buddhism seems to complement and clarify scientific knowledge. It does not contradict, its base premise is that of causality. Everything else comes from there. It is the most practical life-philosophy I know of, so far.

There is no concept of blasphemy in Buddhism. Everything, including Buddhism itself is open to examination, criticism and challenge.

Shakyamuni Buddha said: "Believe nothing no matter where you read it. Or who said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with reason and your own common sense."

That shows itself to me as a strong philosophy.

It was a serious and thorough reading of the Quran, the Hadith and the Bible (without interference from clergy) that made me realize - “something is wrong here.” I became an unapologetic atheist after my fourth complete reading of the Bible.

Shakyamuni Buddha said: “Believe nothing no matter where you read it. Or who said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with reason and your own common sense.”

That shows itself to me as a strong philosophy.

It has been a while since I have come acorss a website that was filled with so much ignorance and waste. There are so much more important factors in the world other than 3 shades of ebony game. This has been going on for hundred of years. Why dont we discuss how we as ppl are becoming divided b/c of stupid things like this, why dont we talk about getting educated and why there are so few black men on college campus other than football field. Someone please help me understand.
I hold a masters in psychology and some of the agruments u guys make are of personality conflicts between ppl not of race. How can we expect to run a board room, when we our fighting amongst our selves b/c we look differnt within our own culture or some of us think simply b/c we accunate our words we are better. Please brothers and sisters wake up, the world is passing u by/

I just went to that forum, and man I visited some threads that had to do with skin, and many people do ask questions about these things. The website gets a lot of traffic too.

Does it have any correlation that great music comes from the souls of talented individuals that pasts have been so tortured. The personal contribution that the DeBarge Family has given to R&B music, to be lost would be extremely disturbing. History can not be re-written and their music and sacrifices need to be remembered. I would love to see a movie from mama DeBarge point of view.

Chance,

I am Black and I love being a Buddhist (Buddhism is non-theistic).

Pick up these three books:

1. Atheist Universe by David Mills.

2. The End of Faith by Sam Harris.

And for an understanding of karma from a different viewpoint:

3. Unlocking the Mysteries of Birth and Death: Buddhism in the Contemporary World by Daisaku Ikeda.

Please check these out.

"What it says to me is that there is a deeply ingrained fear on the part of suburbanites in terms of their attitude toward the city and its hold is very powerful and very deep," Vogel said. "When they’re afraid to cross Eight Mile to visit a cemetery, it tells you what we’re up against and any solutions are not going to be easy."

Suburbanites know that Detroit is out of control. The problem is the crime. Fear of that crime is how rational people respond to an out of control situation. The "solutions" are to put the criminals out of buisiness.

You I have noticed, myself that many white women do want mixed race children. I can tell this because they get pregnant by black men. I have even heard women from other ethnic groups’ mention that white women talked to them about having mixed race children. Especially wanting to have kids with black fathers.

I guess this mixed race thing is cool.

No offense but if white women keep breeding babies outside of thier race the white race as we know it will become extinct. there are so many white women that refuse to date white men let alone have kids with them. so all in all we won't have to deal with this crap from white people. thier white women are making that possible. and once that white woman has made mixed babies with another race (non-white) that white man does not want anything to do with her. and we all know that.

Yes they do play games and they are very replusive to me. they ask all kinds of f*ck up sexual questions and want to try and come to your house late at night?? some people work you know. I feel sorry for any older woman that even gets her mind in the thinking process that a relationship like that will be serious. I'm 32 and i have them from 18-26 trying to talk yes t-r-y-i-n-g. to talk. and to them i'm considered an older woman. then when i tell them my age thier shocked because they think i'm the same age as they are. some of them will tell you hoe old they are for real they later t-r-y to lie about it thinking maybe if they up thier age about 3-5 years then they can get in good.

For the most part a lot of them are looking for someone to take care of them and believe me they will get somebody thier age. i don't trust them i've seen so many older women fall-out with the younger women over no goods like that.

Keita Fennick,

I really do appreciate your paticpation here at this site Keita. I appreciate Joseph, Denise, and all the others who come here. I have to also post articles and write for the mgmix mulatto website, and it at times causes me to have to focus a little more over there than here at chancellorfiles. But i do appreciate all of you, I really do.
Thank you for supporting me. I even learn new ways of looking at topics and issues from the comments you all leave sometimes.

Some of you have come by the MGmix website and left comments, i appreciate that too.

Thanks supporters.

Keita Fennick,

Biracials if they come out confused it is because they live in a society where there is only a two tier system black and white. Their needs to be more than two a level system. Latinos are like many ethnic groups considering people below them. Also the reason for Latinos considering blacks below them it is because whites have set a social climate in America that lets all non whites know that blacks are the lowest.
And you often try to not be categorized with the lowest. Being seen as a part of the lowest will open your group up to more racism. I do agree that their will come a time when certain whites and blacks will fight against each other in a race war. Whites can not get Latinos and Asians out of the country because Latinos are too numerous and whites no longer have the will power and are not able to remove Latinos from America.

Latinos are too numerous and they are also marrying into the white race of America. Many Latinos look white and this makes it difficult to get ride of every Latino. Latinos are well entrenched in positions of power and influence and are growing in power. I am glad that Latinos are here changing the demographics.
I see a big picture of them helping remove the old white and black conflict. I know that some Latinos are negative towards blacks, and that is a part of the growing pain. Time will heal certain things. I agree that many non white ethnic groups have many members among them who are not grateful for the struggles that blacks and mulattoes fought to make life better for al non whites.

The white American race are partially responsible for non whites being ungrateful -- because they let them know that if they admire blacks publicly for their accomplishments, then they (non whites) will be racially discriminated against harder and more intensely.
So to avoid having whites whom still are the majority racially discriminated against them -- they display anti black behavior, to let whites know they are not being friendly with blacks.
And yes, the choice is to be a mulatto not totally black or white just mulatto. Not really in between black or white but just a mulatto. By choosing mulatto one is not necessary being in-between they are choosing to be apart of something called mulatto. Some call mulatto in between others call it another identity.

Take your pick of what you want to call it. As for me, I will do my part to help the mixed race people, and humanity in general before I die. I have a purpose and meaning in life.

Christianity and the Bible are themselves immoral (support and divine regulations for slavery, stoning people to death for adultery, fornication and homosexuality, subjugation of women, genocide of entire populations if they are not with the Christian program - all of these ugly things and more are sanctioned by God). I am not saying these things to be anti-christian, I am just repeating what I have read (KJV). And if these sanctions and practices were ok then - why aren't they ok now?

Education and intellectual development does not serve Christianity very well. Black preachers would soon be out of business if large sections of the Black community became critical thinkers. Scientific and philosophical literacy can empty a church real quick! "No Johnny, the universe was not created in six days!" Someone will say "Well ther are several ways of looking at things." And you know what - that is true.

But whether you you are looking at the right or left side of "creation" - a 6000 year old universe created in six literal days and the present day understanding of a universe that appears to be 14 billion years old that formed (serially, out of an infinite number of previous formations) out of mass-energy that cannot be created or destroyed - no matter how many times you walk around it, the two sides just don't square up! The sooner we as Blacks step away from Christianity and preachers and start regarding the Bible as the ancient cultural artifact that it is - the better off I think we will be.

The fact that the most unbiased truth seekers (most scientists and historians) don't take the Bible as historically or scientifically accurate is one of many reasons to critically examine whether the philosophy it expouses is truly making an obvious and demonstrable betterment for our people (why is the Bible and Christianity so closely associated with White Supremacy - is one question. Why are there so many churches per capita in our communities but not a commensurate material improvement in our living and understanding is another question).

By the way - Bayard Rustin was not only a brilliant thinker that never got the kind of credit that he was due - but he was also an Atheist! Could you start a thread on Blacks and Atheism?

Ego-booster - from my experience, whites are at the same time, slightly fearful and more respectful of Blacks that are not Christian.

You're a product of black and white but it seems that you're gonna live with this. This is what I mean when I say that biracials come out confused and without a clue. The identity crisis it too much to handle.

As far as black over whites, I don't see it that much. As far as whites being outnumbered. They have allowed Latinos and the Asians to come here. We all know the black story. I don't like hearing Blacks and Latinos like we are supposed to have a connection with them.

They consider blacks as lower to them. I always said that in this country whites will show their true side when the right time comes. I am with them as far as getting Asians and Latins out of this country. I am with them getting rid of affirmative action because most blacks abuse it on or don't help other blacks with it.

I don't care for these other minority groups because none of them are thankful to those who made affirmative action possible. They don't care about nothing but them sekves.

As far as mixed people are concerned, you have a choice of being this or that, no in bettween.

Why is it that Black people always fight for the right to be dumb. As much as we were restricted - legally to learn anything during our first 400 years over here, it would seem like we would be the most literate and intellectually oriented group in the country! Many of us barely know American English, much less venturing into another language. The only things my people like to read when they do are the sports pages or the Bible - thats it! Being bi and tri-lingual enables us to be more competitive than whites in the job markets and the world.

My wife is an African-American, like me. She is bilingual (spanish), pretty, dark-skinned and dreadlocks. She grew up in a primarily Puerto Rican neighborhood and took advanced Spanish in college. She does not LOOK like she speaks spanish. But I love the unexpected look on the faces of Mexicans and other spanish speakers when she busts the lingo out on them, fluent and inflected.

She has been hired at some places with no other qualifications ("We'll teach you.") only because she has a degree and is bilingual.

I am now taking a course in Japanese.

Literacy is power brothers and sisters. That is why our former slavemasters and their children never wanted us to READ AND WRITE.
Other languages under your belt enables you to communicate with more people and expand the database of your mind. Let us stop boxing ourselves in.

It is true Chance - Buddha did not believe in God. Buddhism is non-theistic. If this was a teaching with a God I would be a Buddhist. The whole idea of a god does not square with the notion of karma - because the god idea implies that through prayer you can break the laws of nature and violate the processes of relativistic causation.

A lot of times this is the real reasons, meaning it is understood by both parties that this is mainly sexual and enjoyment of company. Good observation Keita.

Good hair is hair that is kept groomed. Yeah people obsess on hair texture too much. Also the Willie Lynch letter is a fake and has been proven to be a fake by scholars. It was written in the 20th century in what scholars believe the early 1990s.

E,

In the history of Blacks and Mulattoes in America, it was after Reconstruction that the 2 really began to mate with one another. The result was what was called "Brown America", and brown was celebrated and became the ideal among the new negroes of the period after the 1920's I believe. These new negroes were kind of in-between, like Mulattoes were with Blacks and Whites. Funny, I think some kids [who were part of this new Brown America] had said to a census taker once that they mistrusted the yellow people [mulattoes] and the whites. I mean a plain example of this celebration was with Joe Louis during his championship reign. His people referred to him proudly as the "Brown Bomber" and he actually was messing around with a Mulatto at the time, the nice looking Lena Horne.

To go off on a tangent here, speaking of Lena Horne she illustrates precisly what bugs me about some people. There are many mulattoes who are not of Latin origin who blacks or whites will call Latin because they are basically confusing Mulattoes in Latin America with Mulattoes in America. When Lena was doing her singing gig she would be passed off as a Latin girl at times.

E,

In the history of Blacks and Mulattoes in America, it was after Reconstruction that the 2 really began to mate with one another. The result was what was called “Brown America”, and brown was celebrated and became the ideal among the new negroes of the period after the 1920’s I believe. His people referred to him proudly as the “Brown Bomber” and he actually was messing around with a Mulatto at the time, the nice looking Lena Horne.

Again read the Willie Lynch letters. Slavery has really screwed up Black people in the head. This battle over dark skin and light is not new. We have been taught to hate ourselves. Black is gorgeous in all its many shades. By the way, you have very light skinned kids that have 2 black parents. Hell, I can point out a number of my first cousins.

My, my , my I have read some really ignorant comments. What is good hair? Black people have that saying something bad. There are attractive and not so attractive people of all races and racial mixtures (though beauty is in the eye of the beholder). Ask any woman of any race and she will tell you of a bad hair day. Blacks and those with one Black parent need to read the Willie Lynch letters. You will understand those of you who feel you are more attractive because you are lighter where that line of thinking stems from.

Actually my mom would be that "dirty savage" and my father is that "white devil"!

I am somewhat effeminate-looking [not effeminate acting - not sure what that exactly means], but not "gay-looking" in the sense that you mean it, however, people say a look happy too often ["Why are you always smiling?"].

Going back to my parents, my father drained his testicles in many a woman, but what my mom did hate was that my grandmother did not approve of her son having relations with a black woman.

I'm sorry that your own race repulses you but maybe you will find a nice mulatto man for you sometime.

Joseph you are a self loathing idiot. As a mixed race African, Native American And Irish woman with Hazel eyes, I advise you to educate yourself first, and seek therapy second. Apparently your mother must hate hefself for getting "knocked up" by a "dirty savage". She obviously wasn't calling him savage when she drained his testicles. You need to take her and your own confused, damaged, probably soft, gay looking, weak effinate acting self off your pedestal. You remind me why I am repulsed by "light skinned men".

Yeah it is amazing how people react when the tables of fortune turn against them. Now those they looked down on some of them are doing well and swell in life. So much for that I am better than you attitude. You are right hard times that are overcome makes you stronger in life and teaches you to survive. Some people who have never had it real hard kill themselves when misfortune comes.

Now that I think about it, I'm glad I grew up poor with survival skills. These economic problems now don't mean anything to me. It's because I have survived the most hell before without anything. I don't know what's like to be rich, just been a survivor all my life.

When I was on the corner doing legal hustling, I always used to see those who would turn up their noses because they're going downtown Boston to their well paying job & I had a not so well one at the time. Well guess what, you're in my old position now. You have to survive, but do you have what it takes since you been given what you want all these years?

Being poor and never really given a job to survive, I was forced to create my own job. Now that I have, I can create my own money locally, nationally, or internationally.

God puts his Chosen people threw real hard times so they can survive. He does not put the haves through hard time because he knows they will not survive because they look down on others. I always see people walk past the homeless like their lower than insects. So God knows what he's doing.

Thanks for the links, and yes it is true, they are going to make us a one world system. Europe is already united as one community (the European community). They are making us like Europe. This will allow them to control the citizens of various countries also because our economic systems will be dependant on each other.

If something goes wrong in one country -- all countries in the union will feel it economically, politically, or even militarily if a country is at war with another.
Yes they don’t care how many people get killed or die in the process.

No doubt, you can best believe I will be nowhere near DC. Do you think there should be regime changes. Because it seems that the current regimes want nothing more than greed, money, and power.

I have been keeping up with this new world order thing were they are trying to merge the US, Mexico, and Canada. They want to form the "Amero". Then united with the other merging countries of Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Check the link I saw on Youtube, it's a MUST SEE!!!!

They don't care if they waste the lives of the poor either.

Keita,
Jewish Holocaust survivers got money from the German government. But not their children or grandchildren. I don't know if the Japanese that were interened in the US during WW2 got anything. (You are welcome to cite me sources if I'm wrong here.) But their kids and grandkids certainly got nothing. Don't forget the Chinese - many of whom worked in virtual slavery building railroads out west. Jews and Asians made it in American with education and work - not anger and blame. Whatever wrongs were committed against Blacks, have been addressed in law. The law doesn't discriminate anymore. That struggle is over and won.

Trust me on this Keita, I don't bear you any bad will. But at this time, it doesn't take a racist to have bad or suspicious feelings against Blacks. There is too much of a negative cycle of bad behavior going on. Predjudice is now often justified and so it won't go away until the bad behavior changes. What ever the reason for the problem doesn't matter - people will only cut Blacks so much slack for it.

You're best bet is to take advantage of the lack of legal predjudice against Blacks. It isn't a token number that have made it out of the ghetto. I live and work with these Middle Class Blacks and whatever anger or resentment they might have, that isn't what they present. They present themselves as positive people and they have something to offer. What is twisting many Blacks up can't be solved by the government or anyone else. Lump sum payments won't change it either. Individuals and families must help themselves. Of course, this is very difficult to do. But before the entitlement culture of the 60's took hold in the Black community, Blacks were most often people of solid values and self reliance. They had good family values and self respect without being loud about it. And that was during and in spite of Jim Crow. And I believe that is the only way to succeed.
