Life Term For Acid Attack Rapist

Daniel Lynch was a steroid addict prone to mood swings

An obsessed fan who raped a TV presenter and then planned an acid attack on her has been jailed for life.

Daniel Lynch, 33, from Shepherd’s Bush, west London, had a brief relationship with the woman before he beat and raped her in a hotel room in March 2008.

Three days later he arranged for Stefan Sylvestre, 20, from Shepherd’s Bush, to throw sulphuric acid in her face.

Lynch was found guilty of rape and admitted causing grievous bodily harm. He will serve a minimum of 16 years.

‘Deliberate evil’

Sylvestre, who threw the acid, was also given a life sentence at Wood Green Crown Court in north London. He will spend at least six years in jail.

The 25-year-old victim suffered horrific injuries and was left with burns to her face, neck, wrist and chest after the attack.

The aspiring model and TV presenter has had more than 30 operations and faces two more years of surgery.

The acid burned her throat so severely she can no longer swallow solid food and has to be fed through a tube in her stomach.

In a victim statement she said: “I have lost my future, my career, my spirit, my body, my looks, my dignity – the list goes on.

“All I am left with is an empty shell. A part of me has died that will never come back. This is worse than death.”

Facebook meeting

Lynch, a steroid addict, imprisoned the woman for hours before beating and raping her two weeks after meeting her on social networking site Facebook.

Following the attack he bombarded her with text messages and phone calls for several days.

After Lynch persuaded her to leave her flat she was walking down a street in north London when Sylvestre approached her and threw acid in her face.

Judge Nicholas Browne QC said: “[The victim] had a face of pure beauty. You, Danny Lynch and Stefan Sylvestre, represent the face of pure evil.

“The facts of this case are chilling and shocking.

“You planned and then executed an act of pure, calculated and deliberate evil.

“You decided to wreck the victim’s life by thrusting a full container of sulphuric acid straight into her face from point blank range.”
