GM and Republicans Targeted the Wrong Age Class
General motors once one of the finest automakers in the world is basically almost irrelevant. While companies like Honda, Nissan, and Toyota are producing the types of cars that people all over the world buy and admire even Americans.
GM, Ford, and Chrysler kept targeting people who over 35. Seriously if you look at a lot of people, in America who drive Cadillacs and Buicks they are older than 35 and many of them are in their 50s 60s and 70s and most of them are white.
Does GM, Ford, and Chrysler do this on purpose? No, yes, maybe, and maybe not. The CEO of the past and present are partially responsible for this because many of then if not all come from the same age group of people in their 40, 50, or 60s. They grew up driving these GM cars and their parents did too.
Many of the cars that GM, Ford, and Chrysler make just have an older generation feel to them if you ask me. They are truly representative of an American family way of life that existed long ago. When Dad and mom would load the family in the car, and go on vacation, park, or to visit other relatives.
Compared to many of the Asian automakers GM cars are often too big. Many Americans drive Honda, Nissan, or Toyota just look on the road and you see this. You will find more of these automakers cars on the road than GM cars.
GM just never caught up with the time they keep producing these types of cars that still reminded younger Americans of past generations. Therefore, the Asian automakers cars remind you of something fresh and new with new looks and features, and elegant.
Take a good look at the cars Toyata make Prius. Matrix, Camry, Venza, Corolla, Camry Solara, Scion, and Avalon. Nissan makes the Altima, Sentra, Maxima, GT-R, Armada, Frontier, and Pathfinder. Honda makes the Acura, and Civic.
The cars are seen all over America. These cars have looks and class and elegance and they appeal to young Americans and older. GM has not kept up with the generations and this is why it struggles financially, and needed the government to give it a loan just to stay in business.
Some people feel that the government should have just let the GM, Ford, and Chrysler automakers — that got government loans to stay in business just go bankrupt and close down factories and operations thus go out of business.
Because many Americans don’t but these types of cars anyway so why keep these auto manufactures around when not many Americans buy their cars.
They need to either get some young engineers in there who can create cars that appeal to Americans who are young or they eventually will go out of business. The same thing with the Republican Party if they don’t start appealing to young non white voters they too will continue to become more and more irrelevant.
The Republican Party mainly appeals to whites especially those who are 40 and above. They will have to change their agenda, from giving into what many whites want — to also pushing the agenda of what many non whites want. If they don’t as the next 20 years move on they will find their base numbers of whites dwindling due to death from old age, and many younger people voting Democrat.
Cars and politics often reflect a bond with each other. Many of those who drive American made cars often are white republicans too not all but many.
The Southern States are the strong hold of the Republican Party and it is here that you will find many Americans in large numbers driving American made cars, but still the Asian Cars are the majority even in these states.
Don’t change with the times then the result is consistent irrelevance.
