ABC News Exclusive: Torture Tape Implicates UAE Royal Sheikh Police in Uniform
By Chance K.
This is unfortunate, and at the sametime this behavior not only happens in the United Arab Emirates but throughout countries all around the world. In third and second world countries sometimes political leaders participate in the mistreatment of civilians (citizens), and they being in power force the police and military to aid them in their abuse.
Countries around the world condemn the United Arab Emirates government for not punishing Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan lla for physically abusing that man. The interesting thing is that many of the countries and political leaders who condemn the behavior of Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan and the UAE government for not punishing him — also have violated the human rights of members in their own countries.
The United States of America still have police brutality, racial violence, discrimination, against blacks and non white ethnic groups. Europe, Africa, Mexico, South and Central America, China, Asian countries, Russia, and the Balkans all currently have incidences of violating the human rights of their citizens.
Many of these incidences have been caught on video camera too. Some countries are not as bad as others, but at the same time they still continue to have incidences, and some caught on tape — were police and other citizens violate the rights of other citizens.
In the case of Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan his Brother is the crowned Prince of the UAE and some of his other family members are in other powerful positions in the government. So of course it will be hard to prosecute and punish him.
But in some other countries those who violate the rights of other are not related to the leaders of the country, nor have any powerful relatives with influence with the government, and therefore, it should be easier to punish these types of people who abuse others.
The question that needs to be answered also is, did the young man (grain dealer) in the video rip off the grain that Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan accused him of stealing? The UAE is a Muslim country and in some Muslim countries you can get your hand cut off for stealing.
We humans need to make efforts to monitor and encourage each other to be more respectful of civil rights of other people.
